A Limerick about a Wasp
A wasp came to my home to sting Barry,
So I went to the shop to buy blueberries,
Then I ran to my home,
Thought I was all alone,
But the wasp came to eat blueberries with Barry.

Life Cycle of Wasps
My name of my animal is wasp. Wasp is a flying insect. Wasp flight speed at 15 miles per hour. Yellow jacket wasp to be as slow as 10 miles per hour. There are more than 100,000 species of wasps and a lot of them have venomous stings. Can wasp eat killer bees? Are there wasps that look like bees, why?How big is a Queen wasp? The adult queen wasp is about 10 to 30mm long. How many wasps are there in a wasp nest? Between 11 000 and 13 000 workers and from 1000 to 2000 queens a season. Wasp flight speed at 15 miles per hour. Yellow jacket wasp to be as slow as 10 miles per hour. Wasp is a flying insect. There are more than 100,000 species of wasps and a lot of them have venomous stings. Unlike a bee, they do not die after they use their sting. Baby wasps or larvae eat other insects. Adult wasps hunt for food by stinging it and bringing it back to the nest for their baby wasps or larvae to consume. These adults also feed on nectar, pollen, fallen fruit, and other dead insects. Aggressive wasps will invade honeybee hives and steal honey or even drink the blood of honeybees. They also eat any sweet substance such as jam, cake, and other human food. They are brown in color and build nests. They live in colonies and have stingers attached to their hind ends. Worker wasps usually live anywhere from 12 to 20 days, though the drones can live a bit longer and the queen wasps can live for up to one year. Some wasp nests can produce up to 15,000 wasps in one season. Wasps have two pairs of wings. They have an exoskeleton, which means that their outer shell is tough in feeling. They are typically various shades of brown; some wasps may have brown and yellow coloration within them. Wasps tend to have very few to hairs, and the hairs that they have are not thick in nature. They also appear to be terrestrial, and very few wasps have the ability to be aquatic. Wasps are insects, part of the Order Hymenoptera, which also includes ants and bees.
Wasps can differ in size, body structure and diet, among other features. They go through several stages of development, including larvae, before becoming adults. Most wasps are classified as symphyta wasps, true parasitic wasps, stinging parasitic wasps and predatory wasps. The adult queen wasp is about 10 to 30mm long. It is generally larger than all the other wasps in the nest, both male and female and her main role is to lay eggs. The queen wasp is capable of laying about 2, 000 eggs per day. The life cycle of a wasp has four stages which are egg laying by the queen, the larval stage, the papal stage and the final stage when the wasps emerge. Wasps come in a variety of species and are characterized by kidney shaped eyes and two pairs of wings. The wasp’s year starts in the spring. As the days start to warm up the queen wasps come out from hibernation where they have spent the winter months in a deep sleep. At this time of year there are no active wasp nests, just queens who will begin to look for a suitable place to build their new nests. A wasp's life span generally depends on their role in the colony. Workers have an average lifespan of 12 to 22 days while a fertile female can live for over a year. The social wasp workers are charged with the responsibility of raising the offspring as well as building nests of honeycomb-like cells. An average common or German wasp nest produces between 11 000 and 13 000 workers and from 1000 to 2000 queens a season. Paper wasp nests, which are much smaller than common or German wasp nests, contain up to 200 wasps. Skunks, frogs, spiders, cats, dogs, dragonflies and birds are just some of the animals on a long list of creatures that will dare to eat a bee or a wasp. The wasp is medium sized flying insect that is found all around the world. The wasp is known for its black and yellow markings, which means that some wasp and bee species are commonly confused.
The wasp is found in all the countries in the world, on every continent with the exception of the Polar Regions. There are around 75,000 recognized species of wasp worldwide that grow to around 2/3 inch long. The wasp is most commonly known for its poisonous sting, that if a human is stung can often swell into a painful lump that takes a few days to soothe. Some people are allergic to wasp stings meaning the wasp sting can be fatal. Not all wasps can sting though but those that can often die once they have used their sting has it is joined onto their rear end of often becomes dislodged. When a wasp dies it releases a smell (called a pheromone), which warns the other wasps of danger and that, it needs help.Like many other insect species, the wasp is social insect and many wasps, as many as 10,000, inhabit just one nest. The queen wasp is the only breeding female and she builds the nest from a papery substance that is made up of chewed wood and plants. Typically, the wasp only lives for 12 - 22 days.Wasps are omnivorous animals and therefore eat a mixture of plants and other animals. As with bees, the wasp prefers the sweeter plants and primarily eats nectar, fruits and honey. Wasps also eat insects and even large caterpillars.Despite their bright colours to deter predators, wasps are eaten by a number of different animals around the world including birds, amphibians, reptiles and various species of mammal. The queen wasp lays her eggs inside the nest, which hatch in a number of days. When the wasp larvae hatch they are cared for by the other wasps in the nest and begin to hunt for food to bring back to the nest. Wasps are known to travel nearly half a kilometre away from the nest in search of food. Wasp Average Lifespan:22 days. Conservation Status:Least concern. Yellow, Black Skin Type:Favorite Food:Nectar, caterpillars. Main Prey: Insects, Fruits Birds, Reptiles, Mammals. Special Features:Long antennae and black and yellow markings
