CIS Year 3- Animal Life Cycles
CIS第三级- 动物生命周期

How to help
Show an interest in your child's learning. Take the time to sit and listen to what they have been studying at school, chances are it is pretty cool. Have them explain what they are doing and why, this increases parent child communication and a sense of achievement.
Thematic study.
Through your child's education he/she will generally learn on some form of theme based approach, for example, the body, the world around us, animals et cetera.
Inquiry based learning.
Inquiry based learning requires more input from the students. The point of inquiry is to have students direct their own learning. The source the topic, the questions, how it will be presented et cetera. This website is the result of Inquiry Based Learning. The students were studying Life Cycles of Animals, but instead of all studying the same animal, chose to research their own animal and then share that information as a cohort. This web page shows just how many different ways the students could branch off from that original idea. Within this site you can find examples, poetry, recipes, mathematics and a rang of others subjects making this project a truly cross curricular activity.

Latest project
The students' themes are constantly changing. Through the course of: Mathematics, ELA (English) Mandarin, Physical Education, Health, Music, Art, Social Sciences as well as ever changing Extra Curricular Activities, students are constantly challenged and engaged in new and emerging themes through a variety of learning methods. Our aim is to allow the students more autonomy through more inquiry based projects like this one on Life Cycles. Stay tuned to see what the kids at CIS learn next.
