First I bought a mongoose with some money,

Then I bought some blueberries with honey.

I was a silly moose,

so I am a silly goose,

Because I used up all of my money and honey.

The word "mongoose" is derived from the Marathi in India. The addition of ‘goose’ was added in English in (since 1698) The plural form is mongooses, or, rarely, mongeese. It has also been spelled "mungoose," originally the mongoose was called mungus. A mongoose belong to mammal because they don’t eat another mammals.I chose the mongoose because he can kill animals and some dangerous animals.Mongooses live in southern Asia, Africa, and southern Europe, as well in Puerto Rico and some Caribbean and Hawaiian islands, where they are an introduced species.Their homes are made in places like hedges, fields, streams and thickets. Rudyard Kipling fans may remember Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, the mongoose hero of one of Kipling's "Jungle Book" stories. He was an Indian mongoose, but you can find mongooses in countries stretching from Indonesia to Africa. In fact, apart from a slim belt running across Africa, approximately where the Sahara desert is, the entire continent is home to the mongoose. Introducing the mongoose into non-native countries has sometimes proved problematic. I think they are really special because they can kill snakes.

Head and body, 7 to 25 in (18 to 64 cm); Tail, 6 to 21 in (15 to 53 cm). If you see him eating snakes or if he runs very fast or eat birds, he just may be a mongoose. These little guys have many tricks up their sleeves as far as self- defense goes, they have a thick coat and lightning quick reflexes. Mongooses do No not have poison. A baby mongoose is called a pup, it has a strange name, I never heard of pups before.Mongooses are small carnivorans,  members of 33 living species in southern Eurasia and mainland Africa of the family Herpestidae. Mongooses mostly feed on insects, crabs, earthworms, lizards, snakes, birds, and rodents however, they also eat eggs and carrion. Mongoose DON’T eat people because people are mammals. The mongoose can run 36miles per hour. Mongooses live solitary lives and look for food on their own rather than in groups. Four additional species from Madagascar in the subfamily Galidiinae, which were previously classified in this family. They are more distantly related to the caniformian carnivorans, including the family Mustelidae, which contains weasels, badgers and otters.

Most are brindled or grizzly; few have strongly marked coats. Their nonretractile claws are used primarily for digging. Mongooses, much like goats, have narrow, ovular pupils. Most species have a large anal scent gland, used for territorial marking and signaling reproductive status. The dental formula of mongooses is similar to that of viverrids:Mongooses also have receptors for acetylcholine that, like the receptors in snakes, are shaped so it is impossible for snake neurotoxin venom to attach to them. Researchers are investigating whether similar mechanisms protect the mongoose from hemotoxic snake venoms. In contrast to the arboreal, nocturnal viverrids, mongooses are more commonly terrestrial and many are active during the day.The Egyptian mongoose (Herpestes ichneumon) is sometimes held as an example of a solitary mongoose, though it has been observed to work in groups.

Some species can learn simple tricks. They can be domesticated and are kept as pets to control vermin. However, they can be more destructive than desired; when imported into the West Indies to kill rats and snakes, they destroyed most of the small, ground-based fauna. For this reason, it is illegal to import most species of mongooses into the United States, Australia, and other countries. Mongooses were introduced to Hawaii in 1883 and have had a significant negative effect on native species.Mongoose factThe Indian gray mongoose and others are well known for their ability to fight and kill venomous snakes, particularly cobras. They are adept at such tasks due to their agility, thick coats, and acetylcholine receptors, which render them resistant or immune to snake venom. However, they typically avoid the cobra and have no particular affinity for consuming its meat. The mongoose can live to 10-15year.
